36 ft illegal timber seized in Bandipora forests | KNO

Bandipora, May 30 (KNO): Forest Protection Force (FPF) Bandipora on Saturday afternoon seized 36-ft timber being dumped illegally in forest area of Kudara village in north Kashmir's Bandipora district. Deputy Director FPF Bandipora, Ajaz Ahmad told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that after receiving specific inputs, they seized 36 feet illegal timber in forest compartment number 114 at Dambinara upper belt of Kudara forest block in Bandipora. “We have started an investigation, though no arrests have been made so far,” he said, adding that the search was underway in the forests to check whether more illegal timber is dumped there. Locals alleged that the loot of green gold is rampant in Arin, Dardpora Qudara area of Bandipora Forest division. They claimed that the higher ups in the forest department have failed to act against the erring officers involved in chopping down the trees—(KNO)
